What to See & Do in Stirling

Stirling is a place of upmost beauty and prestige. Surrounded by exotic plants with wonderful tree-lined streets and historic buildings, it is one place not to be missed with any outing in the Adelaide Hills.

Keep an eye out for a brochure called 'A Walk Around Stirling West', available from Tourist Information Offices in the Adelaide Hills and some local establishments, which outlines a number of interesting places around the village of Stirling including: Druids Avenue, the Old Cottage Hospital, George Brown's Cottage (which dates from 1856), Old Mount Lofty Congregational Church, etc.

About the best way to see Stirling, is to simply drive around the tree-lined streets and admire the unique houses and beautiful gardens.

One of Stirling's best gardens, the Riedel Garden, is a "must see" for anyone. The 61/2-year-old garden is set on only .3ha (0.7 acres) and is located at 7 Sturt Valley Road (next to the Mt Lofty Railway Station and just 20 minutes from Adelaide). The proud creators, Mignon and Philip Riedel, are among SA's best garden designers.
