The 2001 show awards were held at the new National Wine Centre in November 2001, with the most successful prize included for the first time. However, a late query about the criteria for the new award meant the inaugural winner was not finalised until days after the presentation dinner. The entries for the 2001 show almost doubled the last one. They rose from 112 to a record 200 entries in 18 classes.
