What is the Mt Barker Family House?
The Family House is a community which:
was established in 1983 to support the residents of Mount Barker South: today we serve people from across the Mount Barker Council District and beyond.
is one of 85 Community Centres and Neighbourhood Houses across SA.
is a not-for-profit,
non-government, incorporated secular association.
promotes community well-being, by integrating community development with mutual support and adult learning.
offers low cost opportunities to learn new skills, meet new people, find out about local services, build self esteem, get fit, share skills, volunteer, find new pathways, make friends for life.
is available to community groups throughout the year, seven days a week, day and evening.
is governed by a voluntary committee and employs a full time Manager and part time Administrative Officer, childcare workers, tutors and volunteers.
works closely with allied service organisations in the areas of health, welfare, education and employment and aims to maintain a program of diverse services in response to community needs.
TIP: If you are catching a bus take the Transitplus Bus 838 or 839 to Stop 70 Albert Road and follow the sign - we are on the corner of Princes Road and Charles Street.
